Prince Aeryn Targaryen is a non-canon member of House Targaryen mentioned in The World of Ice & Fire. He is mentioned only within the appendix's Targaryen family tree, where he was the sixth of King Jaehaerys I and Queen Alysanne Targaryen's thirteen children. Aeryn was born between Princess Daella (fifthborn) and Prince Vaegon (seventhborn).[1] As he was not listed among the children of Jaehaerys and Alysanne who lived to adulthood,[2] Aeryn must have died young.
Family
Behind the scenes
When George R.R. Martin revised the Targaryen family tree while writing Fire & Blood, Aeryn no longer existed. Vaegon and Daella were now the seventhborn and eighthborn children, respectively, with no possibility for a child between them since they were only a year apart. Jaehaerys and Alysanne still had thirteen children, but Aeryn was replaced by their secondborn child, Princess Daenerys Targaryen.[3][4] In more recent prints of The World of Ice & Fire, the family tree is updated to reflect the finalized children of Jaehaerys and Alysanne from Fire & Blood.[1]
