Captain is a title for the commanding officer of a military unit or a ship.

Captain of the guard[1][2] is a position charged with the command of a castle's household guards.[3]
Captain of the gate is a position charged with the command of a castle's gate, such as Jate Blackberry, the captain of the gate at Dragonstone,[4] or the captain of Duskendale's gate.[5] When lord Randyll Tarly took Maidenpool, Ser Hyle Hunt was named captain of one of the town's gates.[6] The captains of the gates of King's Landing are high-ranking officials in the City Watch of King's Landing.[7][8]
Captain of the ship,[9] or master of the ship,[10] is the commanding officer of a ship.
Lord Captain of the Iron Fleet is the admiral of the Iron Fleet,[11] and the Lord High Captain is the admiral of Stannis Baratheon's fleet.[12]
Grand Captain was the title used by the overall leader of the Warrior's Sons, before the disbandment of the Faith Militant.[13][14]
Captain-general is the highest rank in the Golden Company,[15] but the highest rank of the other Free Companies is simply captain.[16]
Captain is also a rank within the Unsullied.[17]
