Recent Events

A Clash of Kings

When Galbart Glover, the Master of Deepwood Motte, and his younger brother, Robett Glover went south with Robb Stark, they left Robett's wife, Lady Sybelle Glover, in charge of Deepwood Motte. However, Lady Sybelle is only in charge nominally as it is the steward who makes decisions at Deepwood.[1]

Not wanting to seperate from her young children, Gawen and Erena, Lady Sybelle sends her steward in her place at Winterfell for the Harvest feast celebrations. Believing a hedge wizard's prediction of a long summer, the steward reports to the Starks he has only set a tenth of the Glover harvest aside for winter. Ser Rodrik Cassel, Winterfell's castellan, commands him to double that. The steward is later questioned on Larence Snow, the bastard son of the late Lord Halys Hornwood fostered at Deepwood Motte. The steward praised the boy's wits and courage.[1]

The steward returns to Deepwood Motte and fights when Asha Greyjoy takes the castle. He loses one leg in the fighting and is made prisoner alongside Lady Glover and her people.[2]

A Dance with Dragons

Stannis Baratheon marches on Deepwood Motte to liberate it from the Ironborn. He sends a few men to climb Deepwood's eastern wall in an attempt to open the gate, but they are slain by Asha's guards. Asha sees the steward being carried up from the cellar when she gathers the inhabitants of the castle. In the end, Stannis succeeds in liberating the castle and its people.[2]

Quotes

My lady begs that you excuse her absence. Her babes are still too young for such a journey, and she was loath to leave them.[1]
