Following the death of Vickon Greyjoy, Lord Reaper of Pyke and Lord of the Iron Islands, a conspiracy to crown the son of Qhorin Volmark took place.
Background
The younger sister of Harwyn Hoare, King of the Isles and the Rivers, had married into House Volmark. After the death of Harwyn's grandson, King Harren Hoare, in the burning of Harrenhal during Aegon's Conquest, Qhorin Volmark claimed to be the heir of the black line of House Hoare. He was the first of many rival claimants to the title King of the Iron Islands. However, he was defeated during the invasion of the Iron Islands and beheaded by Aegon I Targaryen instead. The ironborn then elected Vickon Greyjoy, the Lord Reaper of Pyke, as the Lord of the Iron Islands[1][2]
