In 133 AC a rebellion took place in Fair Isle, in the wake of the death of Lord Dalton Greyjoy.

During the Dance of the Dragons, Dalton Greyjoy, the Lord of the Iron Islands and Lord Reaper of Pyke, seized Fair Isle.[1]

In the wake of his death, many ironborn captains raced back to the Iron Islands, as a struggle for succession was inevitable due to Lord Dalton's only heirs being salt sons. The smallfolk of the isle and the few knights that remained on the island rose in rebellion against their ironmen oppressors. In the span of three days, hundreds of reavers were hacked to death or set upon on the docks, while their ships were set ablaze, until only Faircastle remained in the hands of the ironborn.[2]

The garrison at Faircastle was mostly composed by the close companions of Dalton Greyjoy, led by Alester Wynch and Gunthor Goodbrother, until the former was killed by the latter in a quarrel over Lysa Farman, one of the salt widows of the late Red Kraken.[2]
