In 133 AC a rebellion took place in Fair Isle, in the wake of the death of Lord Dalton Greyjoy, the Red Kraken.

History

Dalton Greyjoy, Lord of the Iron Islands and Lord Reaper of Pyke, seized Fair Isle during the Dance of the Dragons.

In the wake of Dalton's death in 133 AC, many ironborn captains raced back to the Iron Islands, as a struggle for succession was inevitable due to the Red Kraken's only heirs being salt sons. The smallfolk of the isle and the few knights who remained on the island rose in rebellion against their ironmen oppressors. In the span of three days, hundreds of reavers were hacked to death or set upon on the docks, with their ships set ablaze.

Ultimately, only Faircastle remained in the hands of the ironborn, with the garrison at the castle mostly composed of close companions of the late Dalton, led by Alester Wynch and Gunthor Goodbrother. The former was eventually killed by the latter in a quarrel over Lysa Farman, one of the salt widows of the Red Kraken.

By the time Lord Alyn Velaryon arrived in the westerlands with the Velaryon fleet, Fair Isle was already free with the surviving ironborn having fled back to the Iron Islands in their longships.
