Darry is the castle of House Darry. It is located in the Riverlands. It is half a day's ride south of the Trident.[1] The Darry Castle, though old, is a relatively small castle.[2]
The location of the Darry castle has not been shown by canon published maps. However, its approximate coordinates can be deduced from the text: it is repeated several times that it is close to Harrenhal. Its proximity to a confluence between the Kingsroad and the Trident places it near Lord Harroway's Town.
The Castle
The Plowman's Keep
The central building where the Darrys have their apartments. The lord's bedchamber sits at the top of the keep and its window overlooks the godswood. The lady's bedchamber adjoins the lord's with a servant's cell between.[3]
Great Hall
The Great Hall is not very large. The trestle tables are packed between the walls.[4]
Sept
The sept is just off the castle's inner ward. It is a half-timbered, seven-sided building with no windows. It has carved wood doors and a tiled roof.[5]

A Game of Thrones
When King Robert's entourage traveled north to offer the Handship to Eddard Stark, they stayed at Darry both en route and returning.
On the outbound stop, Tyrion found tapestries depicting the Targaryen kings which had been taken down and hidden away in the cellars for the duration Robert's visit. On the return journey, the company used Darry as a base from which to search for Arya, who went missing following an altercation with Prince Joffrey near the Trident. It was at Darry that Ned killed Sansa's pet direwolf, Lady.[6]

Castle Darry was taken by House Lannister at the opening of the War of the Five Kings. It was retaken by forces of House Darry, but this lasted only a fortnight before Ser Gregor Clegane descended upon them and put the castle to the sword. The last of the male line of House Darry, Lyman Darry, was killed there.[7] Tallhart men retook the castle after a short siege. They were ordered by Roose Bolton to put all captives to the sword and the castle to the torch.[8]
A Feast for Crows
After Lancel Lannister was installed as the Lord of Darry through marriage to Amerei Frey, daughter of Merrett Frey and Mariya Darry, the lands around the castle were inhabited and were being worked once again. During the War of the Five Kings, Darry had been taken several times. It had been burned once and sacked twice.[9]
