Chella is the daughter of Cheyk and clan chief of the Black Ears, one of the Vale mountain clans.[2]
In the television adaptation Game of Thrones, Chella is portrayed by Natalia Lee.
Appearance and Character
[edit]Chella is a small woman, dark and hard.[1][3] Tyrion Lannister thinks she is flat like a boy.[1] Chella is a serious woman[1] with a throaty chuckle.[3]
Chella wears a necklace of ears.[3] She has sons who have claimed fifty ears between them.[1]
Recent Events
[edit]A Game of Thrones
[edit]Chella meets Tyrion Lannister in the Mountains of the Moon. She scouts ahead and finds Lord Tywin Lannister's encampment at the crossroads, and she accompanies Tyrion to the meeting with his father. There she accepts to fight for the Lannisters.[1]
Chella shrieks when riding during the battle on the Green Fork, and she takes four ears during the fighting.[4]
A Clash of Kings
[edit]The group continues with Tyrion to King's Landing. Tyrion entrusts Chella with the guard of Shae when he leaves his mistress in an inn, the Broken Anvil, before going to the Red Keep. Chella's necklace consists of forty-six dried, wrinkled ears.[3]
Tyrion offers her to Sansa Stark as a bodyguard in order to protect her from the Kingsguard, who have been beating her on the order of King Joffrey I Baratheon.[5]
With her clansmen, Chella is sent to the kingswood to harass Stannis Baratheon's troops while they march on King's Landing.[6]
A Storm of Swords
[edit]After the Battle of the Blackwater, Chella returns to King's Landing to be greeted by a hostile crowd which forces her and the Black Ears to return to the Mountains of the Moon.[7]
