House Sunderland of the Three Sisters rules the Three Sisters, islands located in the Bite. The Sunderlands are sworn to House Arryn of the Eyrie.^[4]

House Sunderland blazons their arms with three women's heads, white with black hair, on barry wavy blue and green.^[5]^[6] Their motto does not appear in the books. The name of their seat, possibly located on Sweetsister, is as yet unknown.^{[N 1]}

History

During the Conquest of the Seven Kingdoms by Aegon the Conqueror, the Three Sisters rebelled against Ronnel Arryn, King of Mountain and Vale, and named as their queen Marla Sunderland.^[7] Queen Visenya Targaryen flew on Vhagar to end the Sistermen's Rebellion, however. The Sistermen deposed Marla, and her brother, Lord Steffon Sunderland, submitted to King Aegon I.^[8]^[9]

During the Dance of the Dragons, Prince Jacaerys Velaryon flew on Vermax to Sisterton, where he received obeisance from Lords Sunderland and Borrell. Jacaerys gained the Three Sisters for the blacks.^[2]

Lord Sunderland led the Sistermen fighting for House Blackfyre during the First Blackfyre Rebellion in 196 AC. He attended the wedding tourney at Whitewalls in 212 AC that was to launch the Second Blackfyre Rebellion.^[5]

A Dance with Dragons

Lord Triston Sunderland is recalled by Lord Godric Borrell as having bemoaned the high cost of purchasing destriers for his seven sons, all of whom are determined to become knights.^[4]

The Winds of Winter

Three of Triston's sons travel to the Gates of the Moon to participate in the tourney for the Brotherhood of Winged Knights. All three dance with Alayne Stone, who notices that none have webbed fingers.^[10]

The only known Sunderlands during the timespan of the events described in A Song of Ice and Fire are:
