Matarys Targaryen, called the Even Younger Prince by Lord Gawen Swann's fool, was the second son of Prince Baelor Targaryen and Lady Jena Dondarrion.[1][4]
History
As the second son to King Daeron II Targaryen's heir, Matarys was in line for the Iron Throne. However, after his father Baelor had died in 209 AC during the Ashford Tourney, the Great Spring Sickness struck Westeros. Matarys died from the illness, as did his older brother Valarr and grandfather, King Daeron II, in King's Landing.[5] This ended the line of Prince Baelor, and led to the ascent of his brother as King Aerys I Targaryen.[4]
