Robert Darklyn was a knight from House Darklyn and was briefly a member of the Kingsguard during the regency of King Aegon III Targaryen.[1]
History
After the death of Ser Willis Fell and two of other members of the Kingsguard from the Winter Fever in 133 AC, King Aegon III Targaryen bestowed white cloaks on Ser Robert and Ser Robin Massey, making Ser Robin Lord Commander of the Kingsguard.[2][1]
However, the king's regent, Lord Unwin Peake, with the support of Grand Maester Munkun, dismissed all the king's appointments on the grounds that no boy of twelve had the judgment to decide such weighty matters himself. Ser Marston Waters was then confirmed as Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. The king protested the dismissal of the Kingsguard knights, saying they served for life, but Lord Peake replied that was only when they had been properly appointed.[1]
It is unknown whether House Darklyn included Ser Robert in their count of the the seven Darklyn knights who served in the Kingsguard.[3][4]
Recent Events
A Feast for Crows
When Brienne of Tarth sees the seven white swords displayed on the sign above the Seven Swords inn at Duskendale, she recognizes they represent the seven Darklyns who served in the Kingsguard,[3] possibly including Robert Darklyn.[1]
