Desmond was a maester of the Citadel who served as Grand Maester during the reign of King Maegor I Targaryen.
History
After Queen Alys Harroway went into premature labor in 44 AC, Desmond assisted in the delivery. When the queen gave birth to a severely-deformed stillborn child, the furious King Maegor I Targaryen blamed everyone who had assisted in the delivery, and later Alys herself for her supposed infidelity. The king eventually ordered the executions of Alys, her lord father Lucas, her septas and midwives, and Desmond.[1][2]
Desmond was one of three Grand Maesters who were executed during Maegor's reign,[3] the others being Gawen and Myros.
