History
During the reign of King Mern III Gardener, Lord Redwyne built ships to strengthen the Reach's defenses against the incoming Andals.[11]
Prior to his conquest, Lord Aegon Targaryen was hosted at the Arbor by Lord Redwyne.[12]
In 50 AC, Lord Manfryd Redwyne was the first non-Velaryon to be named Master of ships by the Iron Throne. He served until his own death in 89 AC.[9] His eldest son, Ser Robert Redwyne, succeed him but died soon after.[13]
During the Dance of the Dragons, Lord Redwyne declared for the greens.[14] At the end of the war, Lord Redwyne along with Lords Beesbury and Costayne escorted the High Septon to King's Landing for the wedding of King Aegon III Targaryen and Queen Jaehaera Targaryen. On the trip back to the Reach, they were joined by Lords Rowan and Tarly.[15]
During the War of the Usurper, Lord Paxter Redwyne joined his cousin-goodbrother, Mace Tyrell, in staying loyal to King Aerys II Targaryen. His main contribution to the war was the naval blockade of Storm's End during Mace's siege, ferrying men across Blackwater Bay and blockading Shipbreaker Bay.[16]
Recent Events
A Clash of Kings
Lord Paxter Redwyne's two sons, Ser Hobber and Ser Horas, are kept captive at King's Landing in the early stage of the War of the Five Kings, preventing Lord Paxter to join his men against House Lannister.[17] Once they are sent back to their father and an alliance between the Lannisters and Tyrells is established,[18] Lord Paxter follows his liege lord and cousin, Lord Mace Tyrell, and fight against Stannis Baratheon in the battle of the Blackwater.[19]
A Storm of Swords
Lord Tywin Lannister grants Paxter an advisory seat on the small council, along with a remission of taxes on certain vintages from the Arbor for thirty years.[20]
Lord Paxter and his sons become fixtures of the court. As a wedding present, Paxter gives King Joffrey I a scale replica of King Joffrey's Valor, which is being built in the Arbor.[21] They attend the wedding of Joffrey and witness his murder. Lord Paxter and Hobber are called as witnesses for the prosecution in the trial of Tyrion for the death of Joffrey.[22]
A Feast for Crows
Lord Paxter attends the funeral of Lord Tywin Lannister, and the wedding of King Tommen I and Queen Margaery Tyrell.[23]
Lord Paxter's council seat is revoked by Queen Regent Cersei after Tywin's death. The Redwyne fleet led by Lord Paxter, is sent to Dragonstone by Cersei to remove him from the capital and eliminate the nearest military threat.[24] After the siege, Lord Paxter sails to defend the Reach against King Euron Greyjoy's ironborn raiders.[25]
A Dance with Dragons
Lord Paxter and his Redwyne fleet are last reported as passing Dorne during their voyage back to the Arbor.[26]
