A battle at Lordsport took place during Greyjoy's Rebellion.
Prelude
Rejecting the rule of King Robert I Baratheon and the Iron Throne in 289 AC, Balon Greyjoy declared himself King of the Iron Islands. The defeat of the Iron Fleet in the sea battle off Fair Isle allowed royal forces to cross Ironman's Bay from Seagard and Lannisport, however. Aided by Lord Tywin Lannister, Warden of the West, and Lord Eddard Stark, Warden of the North, Robert's men landed on the various islands of the archipelago.[2]
Battle
King Robert led a mighty host[3] of thousands on the isle of Pyke[1] which attacked Lordsport, the largest town of the ironborn.[4]
The fighting left numerous longships and galleys wrecked on the strand of Lordsport. Buildings in the town were broken and burned, including the sept and Otter Gimpknee's inn, and Robert had the timber-and-wattle castle of House Botley razed to the ground.[5]
After conquering Lordsport, Robert continued on to the final fighting of the war, the battle at Pyke.[6]
Aftermath
The townspeople of Lordsport used the stones of their destroyed structures to rebuild. Otter's inn doubled in size, and Sawane Botley, Lord of Lordsport, rebuilt his castle in stone instead of wood. The sept of the town was never rebuilt, however.[5]
Quotes
When last he'd seen Lordsport, it had been a smoking wasteland, the skeletons of burnt longships and smashed galleys littering the stony shore like the bones of dead leviathans, the houses no more than broken walls and cold ashes. After ten years, few traces of the war remained.[5]
