Sarella Sand is the fourth eldest of the Sand Snakes, the bastard daughters of Oberyn Martell.[2] Her mother is the captain of the Feathered Kiss.[3]
Appearance and Character
[edit]According to a semi-canon source, since Sarella is mixed race Summer Islander and Dornish, she has light brown skin,[4] as dark as teak.[5]
Sarella has a reputation for insatiable curiosity, and for pushing in where she doesn't belong.[6][7] She loves Oldtown.[2]
Like all of Oberyn Martell's daughters, Sarella was armed by her father so that she would never be defenseless.[7]
History
[edit]Sarella is Prince Oberyn Martell's fourth daughter. Her mother, the trader captain of the Feathered Kiss,[3] comes from the Summer Isles.[8]
Sarella sometimes played with her cousin, Princess Arianne Martell, at the Water Gardens, although Arianne was always closer to Sarella's half-sister, Tyene Sand.[7]
Sarella once visited the abandoned holdfast Shandystone with her father, Tyene, and Arianne. Sarella was interested in the history of the ruins, and turned over rocks and brushed sand off its mosaics, wanting to know everything about the people who had lived there.[6]

Doran Martell, Prince of Dorne, orders Areo Hotah to take the Sand Snakes into custody, but as Sarella is outside of Dorne, the captain leaves her be.[2]

[edit]Via a poll from 2015, a large number of readers of A Song of Ice and Fire believe that Sarella is in disguise at the Citadel of Oldtown as the acolyte Alleras, with an average of 66% voting "Yes", 7% voting "No", and 27% voting "Don't Know/No Opinion".[9]
