Layout
The unnamed village is located near Storm's End in the stormlands. Between the village and the castle is sparse woodland in which trees lean away from Shipbreaker Bay.[1]
The walls of the village's small[2] sept are cracked and crooked, and its depictions of the Seven are rough charcoal drawings.[1]

A Clash of Kings
Catelyn Stark's party passes the village on their way to Storm's End. The brothers Stannis and Renly Baratheon meet for a parlay, but the rival kings refuse to concede their claims to the Iron Throne and battle is planned for the next morning. Renly refuses to allow Catelyn to return to Riverrun, but he grants her request to return to the village to pray in its sept.[2]
Ser Robar Royce of the Rainbow Guard escorts Catelyn and Ser Wendel Manderly to the village. The villagers have fled and taken their valuables, even the candles from the sept. Catelyn prays before its depictions of the Seven, with the exception of the Stranger.
Quotes
Catelyn found herself wondering if the place had a name. If so, its people had taken that knowledge with them when they fled, along with all they owned, down to the candles in the sept.[1]

Flickering torchlight danced across the walls, making the faces seem half-alive, twisting them, changing them. The statues in the great septs of the cities wore the faces the stonemasons had given them, but these charcoal scratchings were so crude they might be anyone. The Father's face made her think of her own father, dying in his bed at Riverrun. The Warrior was Renly and Stannis, Robb and Robert, Jaime Lannister and Jon Snow. She even glimpsed Arya in those lines, just for an instant. Then a gust of wind through the door made the torch sputter, and the semblance was gone, washed away in orange glare.[1]
