Game of Thrones: The Mad King,[1] previously known under the working title Harrenhal,[2] and later The Iron Throne,[3] is an upcoming A Song of Ice and Fire Broadway play written by Duncan MacMillan.

Plot

The plot centers around the tourney at Harrenhal in the year of the false spring.[4]

Production history

The development of the play was first reported in March 2021. Developed by George R. R. Martin, written by Duncan MacMillan, produced by Simon Painter, Tim Lawson, Vince Gerardis, and Jonathan Sanford, and directed by Dominic Cooke, it was originally expected to make its debut in 2023.[4] It was delayed to late 2024,[7] and then to 2025.[6] In February 2026 it was announced that tickets would go on sale in April.[1]
