After fleeing Harrenhal, Arya Stark and her friends try to find the Trident so they can follow it to Riverrun.
Synopsis
Arya, Gendry, and Hot Pie head north after fleeing Harrenhal with three stolen horses, evading wolves and passing through a burned village. Arya keeps her identity as a Stark from Hot Pie, though Gendry knows who she truly is. While Arya learned how to ride from a young age at Winterfell, Hot Pie and Gendry, city folk from King's Landing, struggle on their horses. Using the map Arya stole from Roose Bolton at Harrenhal, they plan to find the Trident and follow the Red Fork to Riverrun. They cross two rivers but are unable to identify them from the map.
Fearing pursuit, they ride for long hours and exhaust themselves. While Gendry stands guard, Arya falls asleep and dreams through the eyes of a wolf. In the dream, she sees four members of the Brave Companions pursuing in the rain, a pale Lyseni, an Ibbenese axeman, a Dornishman, and Iggo. The wolf and her pack ambush and ravage the four sellswords, quickly killing the first three. Iggo's horse kicks one of the wolves, and the Dothraki cuts down another wolf. Arya's wolf, enraged by the deaths of two of her pack, knocks Iggo from his saddle and tears off his arm.
