Crannogmen are believed by some to have moss growing under their arms instead of hair.[3]
Locations
[edit]Many cottages in the stormlands are covered with moss.[4] Green, grey, purple, red-tailed, and silvery moss grows in the rainwood.[5]
Thick moss grows between the stones of Raventree Hall in the riverlands.[6] The hidden village of the Lady of the Leaves has little moss-covered houses.[7] Mossy hummocks are all that remain of Oldstones' ruined keep.[8] The strongholds of Crackclaw Point are covered in moss; the keep of the Whispers, for instance, is overgrown with green and purple moss.[9]
Green moss covers the three remaining towers of Moat Cailin,[10] as well as a wall of the godswood of Winterfell.[11] Grey stones on Bear Island[12] and the ringwall of the Fist of the First Men[13] are bearded with moss. Moss covers "Tumbledown Tower"[14] and Queenscrown.[15] Deepwood Motte has mossy walls.[16]
Longships of the Shield Islands are kept in moss-covered stone pens.[17] Moss covers the Ravenry in Oldtown, with purple moss hanging from its weirwood.[18]
The lower city of Norvos has a palisade overgrown with moss.[19]
