Bran II

While hiding in Tumbledown Tower, Bran gains the ability to open his third eye at will and become Summer.

Synopsis

Bran Stark dreams through Summer, seeing through as the direwolf proudly hunts in the wolfswood. When he finds a wolfpack has brought down a deer, Summer challenges their leader and forces the pack to submit. When Summer begins to eat from the deer, however, Hodor speaks to Bran and wakes the hungry boy from his vision.

The travelers have been resting in an ancient watchtower which Bran has dubbed Tumbledown Tower. Instead of following Jojen Reed's instructions to practice tasks while in Summer's skin, Bran finds himself enjoying the freedom of the wolf. Jojen reminds the skinchanger that he and Summer are different beings. Jojen warns Bran not to spend too much time as Summer, neglecting his real body.

Meera Reed returns from her hunting with frogs and trout, and she tasks Bran with helping her prepare the food. They have been traveling north; staying away from civilization for fear that Bran might be seen, especially by the ironmen or Bolton men. Jojen says it is time to move on from Tumbledown Tower, though Meera would prefer they stay. Jojen insists they make for the Wall so that Bran can find the three-eyed crow in the lands beyond the Wall, because Jojen can teach him no more. The crippled Bran considers traveling to northern castles like Last Hearth, Karhold, White Harbor, or Castle Cerwyn, but, wanting to fly, he eventually asks the Reeds to take him to the crow.
