From A Wiki of Ice and Fire
The "silver pelt" is a species of ape native to Jhala, one of the Summer Isles.[1]
Behind the Scenes
The silver pelt appears to be based on the Gorilla, a critically endangered great ape native to the rainforests of the African continent, particularly the mature males of the species, which are known as "silverbacks".
