History
After the Submission of Sunspear during his conquest of Dorne, King Daeron I Targaryen appointed Lord Lyonel Tyrell to rule Dorne in his absence. Lyonel was killed at Sandstone when a hundred red scorpions were dropped on him from a canopy above his bed, and his assassination was the signal for Dorne to rise in rebellion against the Young Dragon.[6][7]
