Eels are elongated fish similar to the real-life animal. They can be confused with lampreys.[1]

Eels have been found in the narrow sea,[2] the Shivering Sea,[3] and the Summer Sea.[4] Red eels, black eels, and striped eels have been found in the lagoon of Braavos.[5]
Culture
Eels are eaten in maritime regions, such as White Harbor,[6] King's Landing,[7] Braavos,[8][5] and Volantis.[4]
The Lazy Eel is a winesink in White Harbor.[2]
Eel Alley is located in King's Landing.[9]
Eel fights are held in the Spotted Cellar in Braavos, and the Inn of the Green Eel is located in the city.[10]
The hour of the eel is one of the named hours.[11]

A Feast for Crows
Disguised in Braavos, Arya Stark helps Umma prepare red eels, black eels, and striped eels taken from the city's lagoon. Some nights Umma cooks the eels with chopped garlic.[5] Gylano teaches Arya the best place to catch eels.[10] Arya warns a sailor that S'vrone is said to have killed a dozen men and rolled their bodies into the canals to feed eels.[10]

Tyrion Lannister eats jellied eels while traveling with Illyrio Mopatis.[12]
