Parrots are known to come from the Summer Isles.[1] Parrot Bay is south of the island of Jhala.[2]
Known colors of parrots include red[3] and green-and-red.[4] Parrots can be taught to repeat words.[4]
History
Monkeys, apes, panther cubs, and parrots from the Summer Isles were popular among the dragonlords of the Valyrian Freehold.[1]
Roggerio Rogare filled the Mermaid, his pillow house in King's Landing, with parrots from the Summer Isles and monkeys from Sothoryos. After Roggerio was sentenced to seven lashes by Lord Torrhen Manderly, he sold everything in the Mermaid so he could purchase a cog which he named Mermaid's Daughter.[5]
A great red parrot was part of the immense pie at the wedding at Whitewalls.[3]
