A red salmon in the arms of House Mooton

Salmon is a fish similar to the real-life animal.

Range

Salmon can be found in the rivers of Sea Dragon Point,[1] in the Shivering Sea,[2] in the White Knife[3] near White Harbor,[4] and near Maidenpool[5] and Eastwatch-by-the-Sea.[6]

Culture

A red salmon is included in the arms of House Mooton of Maidenpool.[5] Lord William Mooton pins his cloak with a red-gold brooch in the shape of a salmon.[7]

History

Lord Torrhen Manderly, Hand of the King, suggested that King Aegon III Targaryen could fish for salmon in the White Knife if he were to visit the north. Aegon cancelled the planned royal progress when he came of age, however, and dismissed Lord Manderly from his service.[3]
