Doreah, Irri, and Jhiqui, are given to Daenerys Targaryen as wedding gifts to serve as her handmaidens; Doreah is to instruct the young bride in the "womanly" arts of love.[3] Daenerys remembers Doreah's lessons when she sleeps with Khal Drogo.[4][5]
Viserys Targaryen is usually kinder to Doreah than to Daenerys's Dothraki handmaids, and Daenerys has the Lyseni sew a fine sandsilk cloak for her brother. When Daenerys sends Doreah to bring Viserys to dinner, however, he strikes the handmaid. Daenerys then offers the cloak to her brother, but Viserys refuses to wear the Dothraki garb.[5]

The handmaid accompanies Daenerys when she visits the Western Market of Vaes Dothrak. At a magician's booth, Daenerys purchases a fertility charm for Doreah. When a wineseller attacks Daenerys, Doreah prevents the pregnant girl from falling on her belly.[7]
Daenerys claims Eroeh and tasks Doreah with tending to her wounds.[8]
Daenaerys's handmaids help treat Drogo as the khal is dying.[9] Doreah washes and brushes Daenerys's hair in preparation for Drogo's funeral.[10]
A Clash of Kings
After Drogo's death, Daenerys takes what remains of her khalasar and marches out into the red waste in search of a safe place. On the march, Doreah dies of a wasting disease,.[11]
A Dance with Dragons
Daenerys, now Queen of Meereen, uses Doreah's lessons when she sleeps with Daario Naharis.[12] Having reluctantly reopened the fighting pits of Meereen, Daenerys thinks of Doreah and other women she has lost.[13]
Quotes by Doreah
Once there were two moons in the sky, but one wandered too close to the sun and cracked from the heat. A thousand thousand dragons poured forth, and drunk the fire of the sun. That is why dragons breathe flame.[4]
