The drum is a musical instrument of the percussion group. A musician who plays the drum is called a drummer.[1]
Usage
Drums are used to assemble an army into formation,[1] to give a command,[2] and to help set a marching pace.[3][4] Oarmasters on ships use drums to set a rhythm for oarsmen to follow.[5][6][7]
Culture
A round tower that has a longer diameter length than height is called a "drum tower" due to its shape resembling the instrument. Drum towers can be found throughout Westeros such as the Red Keep,[8] Storm's End,[9] the First Keep of Winterfell,[10] or the Dun Fort.[11]

Drums are used at the wedding of Daenerys Targaryen and Khal Drogo.[12]
A Clash of Kings
Lord Balon Greyjoy hosts his captains in a feast in the Great Keep of Pyke where music is played by fiddles, skins and drums.[13]
Tyrion Lannister compares the three Kettleblack brothers to hollow drums.[14]
When Ser Edmure Tully returns to Riverrun after the Battle of the Fords, the castle is celebrating. Rymund the Rhymer plays his harp, accompanied by a pair of drummers and a youth with a set of reed pipes.[15]
Warhorns, drums, and pipes are played in Stannis Baratheon's fleet during the Battle of the Blackwater.[6]
A Storm of Swords
The ghost of High Heart predicts the Red Wedding, stating that she dreamt of drums, horns, pipes, and screams.[16]
Fiddlers, flutists and drummers performe "Flowers of Spring" at the wedding of Lord Edmure Tully and Roslin Frey.[17]
The gallery of the throne room is packed with musicians such as drummers during the wedding of King Joffrey I Baratheon and Margaery Tyrell.[18]
Drums are used by the wildlings during the Battle of Castle Black.[19]
A Feast for Crows
Drums play in a slow and measured tone for the honor procession of Lord Tywin Lannister's casket.[20]
Kettledrums are played, mixed with warhorns, at the kingsmoot on Nagga's Hill.[21]
A Dance with Dragons
Pipes and drums are played at Winterfell while Mance Rayder sings and plays the lute.[22]
At the wedding feast of Alys Karstark and Sigorn of Thenn, Owen the Oaf plays the fiddle while several of the free folk join in with the same pipes and drums they played during the battle beneath the Wall.[23]
