Lysene is a language spoken in the Free City of Lys. Like the languages of all Free Cities, the tongue of Lys is a form of bastard Valyrian.[1][2][3] The Lysene language is similar to that of Myr and Tyrosh.[4] George R. R. Martin has described the Lysene dialect to be a musical, flowing, liquid tongue.[5]
History
[edit]Larra Rogare, the Lysene wife of Viserys Targaryen, was fluent in High Valyrian and the tongues of Myr, Tyrosh, Volantis, and her native Lys. She made no effort to learn the Common Tongue of Westeros while residing at the Red Keep, however.[6]
