Towerhouse

A towerhouse or tower house is a type of fortified tower which is also used as a dwelling, often by minor lords or lordlings.^[1] Towerhouses are smaller than castles,^[2] and some have been considered holdfasts.^[3]

History

King Theon Stark captured three tower houses and a fortified sept during his raid of the shores of Andalos.^[4]

When not on campaign, King Halleck Hoare ruled from a modest tower house at Fairmarket.^[5]

The founder of House Clegane was rewarded with lands and a towerhouse after saving the life of Lord Tytos Lannister.^[6]

Ser Barristan Selmy rejected the small council's offer of resigning from the Kingsguard and retiring to a towerhouse near Lannisport.^[7]^[8]
