Redwoods are coniferous trees known for their height and longevity.

Range

Redwoods have been found in the riverlands[1] and in the rainwood of the stormlands.[2]

Culture

Thick stands of redwoods grow in the godswood of Riverrun,[1][3][4] and the castle's heavy doors are made of redwood.[5]

Quotes

She had been born a Tully, at Riverrun far to the south, on the Red Fork of the Trident. The godswood there was a garden, bright and airy, where tall redwoods spread dappled shadows across tinkling streams, birds sang from hidden nests, and the air was spicy with the scent of flowers.[1]

—thoughts of Catelyn Stark

Men live their lives trapped in an eternal present, between the mists of memory and the sea of shadow that is all we know of the days to come. Certain moths live their whole lives in a day, yet to them that little span of time must seem as long as years and decades do to us. An oak may live three hundred years, a redwood tree three thousand. A weirwood will live forever if left undisturbed.[6]
