House Rhysling is a noble house from the Reach. Neither their arms nor their motto have appeared in the books, but according to a semi-canon source they blazon their arms with an oaken door banded with iron, in a grey stone doorway, on black masonry.[1]

History

Ser Robyn Rhysling participated in the tourney at Ashford Meadow in 209 AC. He was defeated by Lord Leo Tyrell after four lances. During the trial of seven Robyn took the side of Ser Duncan the Tall, unhorsing Prince Daeron Targaryen and fighting one of the Kingsguard.[2]

Behind the Scenes

The name of the House may have been inspired by the Rhysling Award or the riesling, a variety of grapes. If it is the latter, the Rhyslings may somehow be connected to the Redwynes of the Arbor (distantly related, vassals, etc).
