House Thenn is a new noble house of the north, created in 300 AC.
Their coat of arms combines a bronze disk to honor the Thenn people with red flames to honor the devotees of R'hllor. The sigil echoes the sunburst of House Karstark.[1]
Recent Events
A Dance with Dragons
House Thenn is created through the marriage between Sigorn, the Magnar of Thenn, and Lady Alys Karstark. Jon Snow, Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, arranges the marriage to protect Alys, whom he had known as a child, from being forcibly married to her cousin, Cregan Karstark.[1] Alys is the heir of her brother, Harrion Karstark, the rightful Lord of Karhold, currently imprisoned at Maidenpool.[2] Cregan's branch of the family wishes to claim Karhold by arranging Harrion's death, and Cregan has already lost, perhaps killed, two wives already.[3] Melisandre performs the wedding ceremony at Castle Black, and the Night's Watch stewards improvise the new arms of House Thenn for Alys's bride's cloak.[1]
Should Harrion Karstark die without any offspring, House Thenn may become the new Lords of Karhold.[N 1] House Thenn currently commands 200 warriors. Unlike most of the other free folk, the warriors of House Thenn are equipped with bronze armor and weapons.[1]
