Theories

Given their name and the frogs on their sigil, the Marshes have been supposed to be crannogmen from the Neck. However, "Marsh" is not included among common crannogmen family names,[9] and the appearance and the character of Bowen Marsh, currently the only known member of the House, do not resemble those typical of a crannogman.[2][10][3][11][12]
