House Stout of Goldgrass is a petty noble house from the north who have a modest keep near the eastern gate of Barrowton.[2] It is sworn to House Dustin.[3] According to semi-canon sources, they blazon their arms as chevronny russet and gold and their seat is named Goldgrass.[4]

History

Ser Wynton Stout was almost made Lord Commander of the Night's Watch thirty years before the War of the Five Kings. He has been a ranger in the Night's Watch for over eighty years.[5]

A Storm of Swords

Ser Wynton Stout is among those left behind at Castle Black when Lord Commander Jeor Mormont leads the great ranging beyond the Wall in search of Benjen Stark and Mance Rayder. Bowen Marsh makes Wynton castellan of Castle Black when he leaves to investigate wildling incursions.[6]

Lord Roose Bolton leaves a strong force of Stout and Cerwyn men to bolster the defense of the Trident under the command of Ser Kyle Condon and Ronnel Stout.[7]

A Dance with Dragons

Harwood Stout is a petty lord in Barrowton who hosts a feast for Ramsay Bolton upon his return to the town, as Lady Barbrey Dustin has barred Ramsay from Barrow Hall.[2] Lord Stout travels to Winterfell for the wedding of Ramsay and "Arya Stark", actually Jeyne Poole.[8] Harwood speaks with Hother Umber[9] and Roger Ryswell[10] while at Winterfell.
