Behind the Scenes

Wayfarer's Rest is a reference by George R. R. Martin to Liane the Wayfarer from The Dying Earth by Jack Vance.

Notes

  1. During the early stage of both the Dance of the Dragons and the War of the Five Kings the riverlands was invaded by a westermen host. A rivermen host composed of men sworn to House Piper of Pinkmaiden Castle and House Vance of Wayfarer's Rest, was hastly gathered on both occasion to repel the invasions. Given that Pinkmaiden's location is known to be on the Red Fork near the border with the westerlands, everything suggests Wayfarer's Rest is also located in this general area of the riverlands.
