The wedding of Lyonel Corbray and Lady Corbray takes place in 300 AC. Lyonel Corbray, Lord of Heart's Home and head of the impoverished House Corbray,[1] marries the daughter of a Gulltown merchant.[2]

Prelude

Lord Lyonel Corbray's wife bore a sickly child who died in infancy, so Lyonel's heir is his brother, Ser Lyn.[3]

After Lyonel's wife finally dies,[3] Petyr Baelish, Lord Protector of the Vale, arranges for Lyonel to marry the sixteen-year-old daughter of a merchant from Gulltown in 300 AC.[2] Since the bride is of common birth, a staggering dowry is provided by her father.[2]

Wedding

Petyr departs the Eyrie and travels across the Vale to attend the wedding. Sansa Stark, disguised as his supposed daughter "Alayne Stone", hopes he will return from Gulltown with a fine gown for her.[2]

Although he was one of the Lords Declarant who opposed Petyr's rule, Lord Benedar Belmore reconciles with the Lord Protector and attends the wedding.[2] Lady Anya Waynwood and Ser Symond Templeton, two other Lords Declarant, unexpectedly show up for the wedding feast.[2]

When Petyr reunites with Sansa at the Gates of the Moon, he reveals that he had been confident of winning Symond to his side. To gain Anya's support, Petyr arranged for her ward, Ser Harrold Hardyng, to marry "Alayne"; Petyr paid a dowry even larger than that collected by Lord Corbray.[2]

Aftermath

Lyonel is reported to be pleased with his new bride.[2] Lord Corbray remains with his pregnant wife at Heart's Home instead of traveling to the Gates of the Moon to attend the tourney for the Brotherhood of Winged Knights.[3] Lyonel's landless brother, Ser Lyn, is resentful.[3]

Quotes

Innocence and experience make for a perfect marriage.[2]

We have had a letter from your father. He is on his way home, he says, and hopes to see his darling daughter soon. He writes that Lyonel Corbray seems well pleased with his bride, and even more so with her dowry. I do hope Lord Lyonel remembers which one he needs to bed.[2]
