A double wedding at Casterly Rock occurred in 235 AC where Gerold Lannister, Lord of Casterly Rock, married his two eldest surviving sons, Tion and Tytos Lannister, to Lady Ellyn Reyne and Lady Jeyne Marbrand respectively.[1][2]

Lord Gerold Lannister had four sons with his second wife, Lady Rohanne Webber; the eldests were a set of twins, Tywald and Tion (b. 210's AC), followed by Tytos (b. 220 AC) and then Jason (b. 229 AC).[1]

Several years prior to the Peake Uprising of 233 AC, Tywald was betrothed to Ellyn Reyne, the daughter of Robert Reyne, Lord of Castamere. When Lord Peake of Starpike rose in rebellion against King Maekar I Targaryen a host of westermen aided Maekar to put down the rebellion. Tywald served as Lord Robert's squire during the conflict but both died during the storming of Starpike, as well as King Maekar. Prince Aegon Targaryen knighted Tywald as he laid dying in Tion's arms. Later that year, Lord Gerold made the journey to King's Landing to the assembled Great Council to elect Maekar's successor to the Iron Throne. Gerold's eloquence (and some say gold) helped Prince Aegon to win the election. Born the fourth son of a fourth son, Aegon became known as "Aegon the Unlikely" from that day forth, and he ruled as Aegon V Targaryen.[1][2]

Grieving the death of his heir and the disappearance of his wife three years earlier, Lord Gerold became ill and a pale shadow of the man once dubbed "Gerold the Golden". Not abandoning her ambition to become Lady of Casterly Rock someday, Lady Ellyn took advantage of Gerold's apparent weakness to convince Tion to marry her in place of his late twin. Lord Gerold opposed the match at first but then agreed.[1][2]

Weddings

A double ceremony was held at Casterly Rock in 235 AC to marry Tion and Ellyn as well as the fifteen-year-old Tytos to Jeyne Marbrand, the daughter of Alyn Marbrand, Lord of Ashemark.[1]

Aftermath

Following the weddings, Gerold retreated into his books and bedchamber, leaving Tion and Ellyn to rule as Lord and Lady of Casterly Rock in all but name. Ellyn hosted splendid tournaments and balls, and used her new position to empower her own house. Ellyn's power over the Rock did not last long, however. After the death of Ser Tion at the Battle of Wendwater Bridge in 236 AC, Lord Gerold took a firm hold of the westerlands once more. He became intent on preparing Tytos for lordship.[1][2]

In accordance with the Widow's Law, Lady Ellyn was allowed to stay at the Rock but her power at court diminished greatly. The favors and gifts Ellyn once received were now bestowed upon her goodsister, Lady Jeyne. A fierce rivalry, dubbed the "War of the Wombs" by Gerold's fool, Lord Toad, began between the two ladies. In a last ditch effort to regain power, Lady Ellyn seduced Tytos in 239 AC and tried to convince him to set aside Jeyne for her. Intimidated, Tytos was not able to perform and confessed the affair to his wife, who in turn informed Lord Gerold. Furious, Gerold married off Ellyn to Walderan Tarbeck, the aged Lord of Tarbeck Hall, and she never returned to Casterly Rock.[1][2]

Lady Jeyne forgave Tytos for the incident and they had five children in the following years; Tywin (b. 242 AC), Kevan (b. 244 AC), Genna (b. 245 AC), Tygett (b. 250 AC) and Gerion (b. 255 AC). Tytos succeeded his father after his death of a bad bladder in 244 AC.[1][2]
