Sybelle Glover,[5] originally from House Locke,[1] is the wife of Robett Glover and the mother of Gawen and Erena Glover. In the absence of the brothers Galbart and Robett, Sybelle is the Lady of Deepwood Motte,[6] although it is the steward who truly rules at Deepwood Motte.[2]

Character

Sybelle is a pious woman who often prays in Deepwood's godswood.[5]

Recent Events

A Clash of Kings

When Robett Glover and Galbart Glover travel south with Robb Stark, they leave Deepwood Motte in the hands of Sybelle. However, it is her steward who rules the place, who also goes in her place with some men to the harvest feast at Winterfell. Sybelle does not want to leave her small children behind or subject them to the long journey.[2]

Sybelle and her children are captured when Deepwood is taken by the ironborn.[7]

A Storm of Swords

Sybelle and her children are kept captive at Deepwood Motte.[8]

A Feast for Crows

Asha Greyjoy brings Sybelle and her children, Gawen and infant Erena, to Ten Towers on Harlaw. Along the way, Sybelle's milk dries up, and they stop at the Stony Shore to search for a wet nurse for Erena; instead they find a goat. Asha has Sybelle and her children quartered in one of the castle's towers instead of a dungeon.[9]

A Dance with Dragons

Asha returns to Deepwood with Sybelle, but the children remain at Ten Towers with the Harlaws. Sybelle spends all her time in prayer for the safe return of her children and her husband, as Robett is still making his way north after his own captivity.[5]

Sybelle is freed when the army of Stannis Baratheon retakes Deepwood Motte. She sends many Glover men with King Stannis to march on Winterfell, including guides, trackers, and hunters.[10]

Sybelle ransoms six ironborn prisoners to Tycho Nestoris.[10]

Family

Sybelle's relation to Ondrew Locke, the old Lord of Oldcastle, is unknown.

Quotes

We will exchange you for the children. Gawen is four now. I missed his nameday. And my sweet girl… give me back my children, and no harm need come to you. Nor to your men.[5]
