House Bulwer of Blackcrown is a noble house from the Reach, sworn to the Hightowers. Blackcrown is located on the northern coast of Whispering Sound.

According to semi-canon sources their arms depict a bull's skull, bone over blood.[2] Their words do not appear in the books, but according to semi-canon sources they are Death Before Disgrace.[3]

History

According to legend, House Bulwer descends from Bors the Breaker, a son of Garth Greenhand.[4]

According to semi-canon source, Ser Humphrey Bulwer attended the Tourney at Ashford Meadow.[5]

Ser Buford Bulwer fought at the Battle of the Redgrass Field, where he slew forty men, or so he claimed. In 212 AC, he participated in the Whitewalls Tourney where he was defeated by Ser Uthor Underleaf in five tilts.[6]

In more recent years, Lord Jon Bulwer, the father of the current lady of the house, died of a summer fever.[7][1]

Recent Events

A Storm of Swords

Lady Alysanne Bulwer, a child of eight, is among Margaery Tyrell's companions at King's Landing.[8][9][7]

Black Jack Bulwer stays at Castle Black and survives the battle against the wildlings.[10][7]

A Feast for Crows

Black Jack and twelve seasoned rangers escort Maester Aemon, Samwell Tarly and Gilly to Eastwatch-by-the-Sea.[11]

Margaery plays come-into-my-castle with little Alysanne.[12][13]

Lady Merryweather reports to Queen Cersei rumors that Megga Tyrell is planning to wed Lady Bulwer's brother. It is unknown if this Lady Bulwer refers to Alysanne, and if so why did he not inherit the lordship.[14]

A Dance with Dragons

Lord Commander Jon Snow makes Black Jack First Ranger and sends him ranging beyond the Wall, but he is slain by the Weeper.[15][16][17][18]
