Stoney Sept is a walled town in the southern Riverlands. It is located south of Acorn Hall, southeast of Pinkmaiden, and north of the Goldroad.[1] The headwaters of the Blackwater Rush are nearby.[2]

The sept sits on a hill. Below it is a holdfast made of grey stone that seems undersized for the town that surrounds it. The heart of Stoney Sept is a market square with a fountain in the shape of a leaping trout.[3] A brothel known as the Peach is located on the east side of the market.

Dunk and Egg were in Stoney Sept prior to the Second Blackfyre Rebellion. While in the town they saw the head of a septon executed for speaking treason about Lord Bloodraven.[4]

Stoney Sept was the site of one of the most important battles of Robert's Rebellion, the Battle of the Bells. Lord Robert Baratheon, with the aid of Lords Eddard Stark, Jon Arryn and Hoster Tully, defeated a royal army under the command of Lord Jon Connington, the Hand of the King to Aerys II Targaryen.[3]
