While eating an orange during breakfast, King Robert I Baratheon reminisces about a food fight involving the fruit when he and Eddard Stark were wards at the Eyrie.[10]

Arya Stark has a blood orange for breakfast at the Tower of the Hand. When Arya is angered by Sansa, Arya throws the fruit at her sister.[12]

Doran Martell, Prince of Dorne, and Areo Hotah observe that the blood oranges at the Water Gardens are past being ripe, with some falling onto the terrace. Doran rests in the shade of the trees.[4] Arriving in Sunspear, Doran's retinue is accosted by townspeople calling for vengeance for his slain brother, Prince Oberyn Martell. The townsfolk pelt lemons, limes, and oranges at Doran's litter.[4] Dorea Sand knocks oranges off the trees with her morningstar.[16]
Princess Myrcella Baratheon splits an orange with Sylva Santagar.[17]
While in Maidenpool, Brienne Tarth purchases an orange from the Seastrider for Podrick Payne. Septon Meribald has nine sacks of oranges among his provisions for the poor and hungry of the riverlands. He exchanges oranges for clams with fisherwomen of the Bay of Crabs.[6] All of Meribald's oranges are gone by the time he reaches the inn at the crossroads, but he offers to bring some to the inn in the spring.[18]
Queen Regent Cersei Lannister and her son, King Tommen I Baratheon, have blood oranges from Dorne as part of their breakfast.[5]
A Dance with Dragons
Yandry and Ysilla return to the Shy Maid with sacks of oranges from Selhorys.[19] Tyrion Lannister sees a wagon filled with limes and oranges at the northern gate of Volantis.[20]
A snake stew simmered with dragon peppers and blood oranges is served at the feast welcoming Ser Balon Swann to Sunspear.[8]
