Lysa Tully

Lysa Tully (266 AL - 300 AL) was a member of House Tully. She was the daughter of Hoster Tully and Minisa Whent. During the War of the Usurper she married Jon Arryn a man older then her father. During their marriage she had a number of miscarriages and finally gave him a son, Robert Arryn.

[edit] Life up until Robert's Rebellion
In her youth Lysa was shy, friendly girl not without some attractions. She grew up with her siblings, Catelyn and Edmure and the ward of their father, [Petyr Baelish]]. During this time Lysa fell in love with Petyr. Her love was not returned. When Catelyn was about to marry Brandon Stark, the brother of Eddard, Petyr challenged him for Catelyn's hand.
Brandon wounded Petyr severely and Lysa offered to nurse him. She let him deflower her, but during sex Petyr called Lysa Catelyn.
Lysa became pregnant with Petyr's child but her father forced her to abort it and sent Petyr back to the Vale. Because she was not a virgin anymore it would be harder to find her a husband of equal rank but her father found a way. He offered her to Jon Arryn, the overlord of the Vale, an old man without immediate heirs. Because Lysa had proven to be fertil and because he needed the support of the Riverlands in the war Jon agreed. She married Jon in the same ceremony as her sister married Eddard Stark, who replaced his murder brother. The rebellion in which their husbands were the main leaders was in the end succesfull and after Robert had become king he choose Jon Arryn as his Hand.

Jon was already a fairly old man when he married her and proud. Because of Lysa soiled state and the age difference between them their was not much love in their marriage. Lysa had a number of miscarriages, but finally she gave birth to a son, Robert Arryn.
Robert was a sickly child and Lysa who was very worried about his health spoiled him to such an extent that she gave him breastfeeding up until he was six and denied him nothing.
During those years she lived with her husband in Kingslanding. She began a secret relation with Petyr who her husband had taken with him. Petyr had a big influence on Lysa and at some point he persuaded her to poison Jon and accuse the Lannisters of the murder.
After Jon's death Lysa fled with her son back to the Vale of Arryn and sent a Catelyn a secret letter in which she accused Cersei Lannister of murdering her husband.
[edit] During the war of the Five Kings
The murder of Jon Arryn set into motion number of event which let to a complete war in the Seven Kingdoms.
When Lysa's sister accidently met Tyrion Lannister during a journey from Kingslanding to Winterfell she took him prisoner. To shake off possible pursuers Catelyn went to the Vale. Catelyn had not seen her sister in years and was shocked by the changes in Lysa. She had grown fat, emotional unstable and saw everywhere enemies.
Lysa took Tyrion as her own prisoner and tried to make him confess the murder of her husband. Tyrion outsmarted her by demanding a trial by battle which his champion was able to win. Catelyn tried to persuade her sister to mobilize an army and join with their father and the North against the Lannisters but Lysa refused.The next two years there a lot of battles were fought between her kin and the Lannisters but Lysa, remained neutral and played no role whatsoever.

After the defeat of the StarksPetyr had risen high in the council of the Lannisters and was rewarded with the over lordship of the Riverlands and the seat of Harrenhal. With this rank he was now able to marry Lysa and get the position of regent for his stepson Robert. Petyr brought Sansa Stark with him to the Vale disguised as his natural daughter but told Lysa who she really was. Sansa looked very much like the deceased Catelyn and on a morning Lysa caught Petyr while he kissed Sansa. She blamed Sansa and during a emotional row almost threw her from the mountain. Lysa was Sansa was saved by Petry who came just in time to stop Lysa. After he had calmed her down, Petyr threw Lysa from the mountain and had Lysa's personal singer framed for the deed.
