Culture
Mice are known for their timidity[1][2][3] and are considered vermin.[4][5]
A large white mouse with fierce red eyes is included in the arms of Ser Shadrich, who calls himself the Mad Mouse.[2]
Cats which hunt mice are known as mousers.[6]
Mousedown Mill is a location in the riverlands.[7]
History
In some stories about House Lannister's acquisition of Casterly Rock, Lann the Clever filled a cleft in the castle with mice, rats, and other vermin to chase out House Casterly.[5]
Marilda of Hull was known as Mouse when she was young because she was "small, quick, and always underfoot." Later in life, Marilda acquired a trading cog which she named Mouse.[8] Mushroom referred to Marilda's palatial manse at Hull as the Mouse House.[9] The tomb at Hull of Ser Addam Velaryon, one of Marilda's sons, has carvings of a mouse and the seahorse of House Velaryon.[10]
When they worked together in Pentos, Varys and Illyrio Mopatis referred to Varys's network of informants as mice.[11]

One of the gifts which Daenerys Targaryen receives at her wedding is a gown made from the skin of a thousand mice, which Magister Illyrio Mopatis considers to be a handsome gift.[12]

Serving incognito as a servant at Harrenhal, Arya Stark thinks of herself as a mouse while trying not to bring attention to herself.[13]
Aggo purchases a skewer of honey-roasted mice at the port of Qarth.[14]

Samwell Tarly finds a mouse in the library of Castle Black.[4]
Queen Regent Cersei Lannister hears soft sounds in the walls of the Red Keep and tells herself that they are mice.[15] King Tommen I Baratheon informs his mother that Ser Pounce caught a mouse but had it stolen away by Lady Whiskers.[16] Dorcas makes a toy mouse with scraps of fur and ties it on a long string at the end of an old fishing pole so that Tommen can play with his three kittens.[17]
Cossomo the Conjurer uses mice in his sleight of hand tricks.[18]

Victarion Greyjoy thinks poorly of Maester Kerwin, considering him a mouse.[19]
